I like to photograph socks out on their own adventure. Philosophically these socks, aren’t lost socks, they are traveling socks. It’s a reminder to me of my own lost and found times of the journey.
I used to host groups of volunteers. During our orientation time, we’d have the participants act out each of the rules like a game of charades. I had two favorite rules “Don’t play in the fountain.” and “You will get lost.” We always let the chaperone/sponsor/adults act like the fountain. It was great fun to watch and easy enough for them. But telling a group of people, probably already scared of the big city, that they were indeed going to get lost- even better. It worked. It named the anxiety and somehow took it away.
I do firmly believe on any great adventure, you will get lost.
May you also be found.
